The important thing with taiko is to have fun, because when you are having fun, it's easy to learn. When Jonathan teaches, he aims to make the session fun, but for serious reasons. Workshop participants should therefore expect to enjoy themselves, but also to get a little bit tired, mentally and physically. This, of course, is "honourable fatigue" and at the end of each day, people should therefore feel tired but happy.

Jonathan will bring a range of group drills and routines that everyone will be able to play together, sometimes to warm-up, sometimes to develop skills - not just skill in playing the taiko, but in listening, being aware of other group members, and working together.

In order to consolidate learning, much of what is taught on Saturday will be repeated on Sunday. A taiko workshop should not be about succeeding in getting through the day, it should be about actually learning something - and being able to remember it.
The content on Sunday will therefore depend on how well everyone remembers what is taught on Saturday.
There is no precise timetable in advance, because the plan may need to change to meet the needs of the people - a plan should fit the needs of the people, people should not have to fit the needs of the plan!

In particular:
- Taikorobics is a sequence of taiko beats and movements that combine to form a routine that develops the all-round ability of taiko players.
- Movement Round The Drum involves a series of exercises that liberate the player from simply standing behind a drum.
- Circles is a set of drills to develop arm movement while playing with either left hand, right hand, or both.
- Whirligig is an exciting routine, almost dance-like, that involves teamwork between four players playing three drums as they move around them.
